On July 1, 2009, Crabtree & Evelyn, Ltd. (the "Company") voluntarily sought relief under chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. None of the Company’s affiliated companies outside of the United States have filed for protection.
1. Is Crabtree & Evelyn Going Out of Business?
Absolutely not. The purpose of chapter 11 is to preserve and strengthen our business. We expect to do just that. During the Chapter 11 process, our daily operations will continue and we will continue to provide our customers with the highest quality products and service for which our company has become known.
2. Why did the Company file chapter 11?
Making the decision to enter bankruptcy was extremely difficult. After reviewing the alternatives available, we concluded that Chapter 11 provides the most effective, efficient means to evaluate our U.S. retail store portfolio, strengthen our brand strategies and restructure our financial obligations in a process that will enable us to capitalize on opportunities for future growth and profitability.
3. Will the Company Honor Company-Issued Gift Cards and Promotional Offers?
Yes. We will honor all valid gift cards and promotional offers issued by the Company. You can redeem gift cards and promotional offers at any participating Crabtree & Evelyn retail store and by calling 1-800-CRABTREE (272-2873).
4. Will the Company Honor Discover Card Gift Cards?
Yes. The Company will honor valid gift cards issued by Discover as part of the Discover Card Cash Back Bonus program.
5. Will the Company Honor Its Merchandise Return and Credit Policy?
Yes. The Company’s merchandise return and credit policies will not change as a result of the filing.
6. Will the Company Continue its Preferred and Prestige Preferred Customer Programs?
Yes. If you are a member of the preferred or prestige preferred customer programs, you will continue to be able to participate in and receive the benefits of those programs.
7. Will the Company close any of its retail locations?
While some of our retail stores will be closing, many will remain open. And, as always, customers may shop online at www.crabtree-evelyn.com and at numerous independent retailers that carry Crabtree & Evelyn products.
